About Us: Alkali Team
Lauren Arbittier Davis, Founder
Lauren has been passionate about marketing since her grade school days of hawking handmade friendship bracelets at the Jersey shore. She refined her creative, yet analytical approach with marketing and technical degrees at the Wharton School and Engineering School at the University of Pennsylvania. Lauren then developed extensive program management, lead generation, events and direct mail skills in marketing leadership roles for such organizations as Trilogy Software, B-Side Entertainment, BetweenMarkets and the Liemandt Foundation before officially starting Alkali in January 2006. When not marketing, Lauren keeps busy taking long walks around Austin's South Congress neighborhood with her husband, young daughter and giant dog, cycling through the hill country, and attempting alternative crafts such as welding and soap making.
Amy Vail Baer
Amy began her career in high tech startup world, surviving and thriving on adrenaline, infinite possibilities, and a lot of vending machine fare. But when Dell called with an offer she couldn't refuse, Amy decided to pack up her Honda Civic and 20 pound cat to see what the Fortune 500 was about. Bringing her enthusiasm and creativity to Dell landed Amy in some fascinating roles, such as aiding the company's expansion into the Asia-Pacific market where she served as Manager of Enterprise Strategy and Communications. Returning stateside, Amy experienced a crash course in partnership marketing as she was tapped to manage Dell's deep partnership with Microsoft. Outside of work, Amy can often be found running around Town Lake with her dog and preparing with her husband Josh for their most exciting and challenging position to date – parenthood.
Molly Dodson
Molly began her marketing career straight out of Stanford University by taking on several roles for Trilogy and the company's spin-off businesses, both in the US and in Europe. After weathering the high tech highs and lows for six years, higher learning and cold weather beckoned - Molly headed to Harvard Business School. MBA in hand, Molly and her husband headed back home to San Francisco, where she managed businesses as a retail buyer at Macys. Molly also took on her own personal "small person, big impact" project when she gave birth to identical twins. When not working with Alkali's high tech and retail clients, Molly can be found trying to teach her one-year-old daughters to love her favorite activities - skiing, running, and traveling. Molly often meets Krista at the park for "company off-sites."
Spike Gillespie
Spike, a copywriter for Alkali, keeps our clients in case studies, whitepapers, and sales support materials. She is also a journalist, author, teacher, documentary filmmaker, and wedding officiant. As the critically acclaimed author of four books and countless magazine articles, Spike has been named "Best Writer in Austin" by the Austin Chronicle. Her work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Real Simple, GQ, Esquire, Elle, Smithsonian, Texas Monthly, The Dallas Morning News, and other publications. Spike is also the creator of the almost always sold-out "Dick Monologues" show, the voice of LaunchPad Coworking, the woman behind Austin's annual "Naked Calendar," and the President of the Office of Good Deeds.
Krista Glotzbach
Krista joins Alkali with the experience and enthusiasm to further Alkali's reputation as a little company that makes a huge impact. Her moxie in launching products and landing cover stories in top publications have led her to be recognized nationally as one of 50 "High-Tech PR People of the Year." After graduating from Stanford University, Krista honed her skills at companies such as Trilogy and Digital Equipment Corporation, most notably managing large teams and budgets as Trilogy's Vice President of Corporate Communications. Other challenges Krista has conquered include becoming a private pilot, running marathons, and becoming a mom (which has put quite a dent in the aforementioned hobbies, for now). Krista lives with her husband and young daughters in San Francisco.
